Rising Pune Supergiant wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni guided now-defunct Chennai Super Kings to two Indian Premier League titles. The yellow brigade won the two trophies in 2010 and 2011 editions.
Two-time IPL winners CSK and 2008 champions Rajasthan Royals were suspended from the IPL for two seasons – 2016 and 2017 – by the Supreme Court following their involvement in spot-fixing scandal.
With their suspension coming to an end, the players of all teams will go under the hammer in the IPL 2018 auction and the yellow brigade will aim to sign Dhoni once again.
With the IPL 2018 auction months away, Kolkata Knight Riders owner and bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has shown his desire to have Dhoni in his team next year.
“Yaar main toh usko apna Pyjama bech ke bhi kharid lun, wo aaye toh auction mein (I’m ready to sell my pyjama for buying MS Dhoni but that can happen only when he is available for auction right?),” Shahrukh Khan told Sporstwallah in an interview.
Dhoni hasn’t enjoyed a great run in the ongoing 10th edition. He has just one half-century to his name in 7 matches.
