Vicks make an Incredible Story of Transgender Mother and Her Daughter

Vicks latest advertisement weaves together two controversial topics that is – adoption and transgender rights. Its a beautiful story, that will definitely stay with you longer than its run time.

Its a true story of Gauri Sawant who is a 37-year-old transgender social activist. Due to the narrow mentality some people had, it made Gauri’s life difficult from childhood. She emancipated from her parents at the age of 18.

Gauri is now 37 years of age and lives proudly as a transgender woman. Gauri always wanted to be a mother. She adopts a little girl and her journey is shown in an ad directed by Neeraj Ghaywan.

How Gauri fulfills her this dream and take care of her daughter is shown in this ad. The video start with Gayatri, who is Gauri’s adopted child, talking about her past while making her way to boarding school. Gayatri tells us that she was left orphan when her mother, a sex worker, passes away after losing battle with HIV. She didn’t know who her father was. At such tough times Gauri Sawant adopted her and became her mother.

“My Civics book says that everyone is entitled to basic rights. Then why is my mother denied them? questions Gayatri.

Due to this Gayatri wants to become a lawyer in-spite of her mother asking her to become a doctor. She says she want to ensure equal rights for her mother, for transgenders in India.
