Today, in an all new session of THE READING ROOM, we are going to review The Old Man and The Nymph by Vipin Behari Goyal
- Book Description
Greek Mythology describes four types of Nymphs. These are the nymphs of Water, Cloud, Woods and Underworld.
Four Nymphs incarnated as four beautiful nubile girls who are full of passion, enter the life of the old man, Colonel. They love to laugh, dance and find it extraordinarily funny to break the rules of the mortal society. The old man tries to entice each one of them to satisfy his carnal desires.
One of them escapes the Colonel and disappears into the underworld.
What happens when the rest of the three meet the Colonel under the same roof? Who would escape and who would surrender?
A strange story of Nymphs of Greek Mythology set in India…
- My View
Another amazing theme of Vipin Behari Goyal’s new novel, The old man and the Nymph. The best thing about his books are first, the titles of the novels are so unique and different, which has a positive point, because it catches the attention of any reader in an instant, secondly, the concepts or the theme on which his novels are based are mostly inspired from mythology or philosophy.
This novel is based on the idea of Greek mythology’s eternal character called Nymph, which are spirits of nature(must be the 4 elements- earth, air, fire, water) in form of young and eternally beautiful women(indicating life). In this book, there are 3 nymphs in form of young girls named, Melissa, a freelance-writer, Mint, who’s Melissa’s mother’s niece, a complete village girl and Pun, a poor girl and an orphan. These 3 girls enter into the lives of 3 different old men, Melissa’s father, a retired Colonel, and a poor village man, Naga, who’s left abandoned by his son. These old men symbolize death or rather say they had no life. But when these 3 girls surprisingly started to live with these old men, all their desires got fulfilled, from physical needs to social, these men came back to life, and they became full of life and felt young around these girls. And there’s also a little bit of surprise in the end when these 3 girls went to live with the Colonel in his cottage. Now if I write the whole story over in my review, then what’s left to read for you guys? Go ahead pick up this book now, I bet this book won’t disappoint you, instead it’ll transform into a whole new life. In fact the strange thing I found out that while I was reading about these nymphs, I was feeling happy and content inside me, I think that’s what a nymph can do.
Vipin Behari Goyal has a unique style in the way he narrates the whole story. The detailed description of each and every aspect of life is what makes the book more wonderful. I can assure you that the story is very addictive one, which makes it difficult to put this book down once you start reading it. Read this and you’ll be amazed to see how 3 beautiful young teenage girls can change the lives of some old men in a very beautiful way and vanishes when all their desires gets fulfilled.
